Coastal Development
Carvoeiro, which sits at the heart of western Algarve, was once a traditional little fishing village thriving on tuna catches. Nowadays it has become an incredibly popular destination due to its sandy white beaches, blue water ocean and golden sunshine, wherein hotels and resorts have been developed to keep up with demand.
A nice selection of restaurants, bars and cafés is within easy walking distance and offer a great choice of national and international cuisine.
The spanning cliff tops around Carvoeiro offer plenty of great views and walking routes, where you will come across some "algares", where the sea has eaten away the cliffs from below, creating large openings in the rock.
On the cliff above Carvoeiro you will also see the remains of the walls of the Fort of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception dating from the 17th century, inside which is the hermitage of Our Lady of the Incarnation.
